American Nurses Foundation Gratitude Podcast - How to Share Gratitude with Your Team & Colleagues, with Amy Graber, MSN, RN, OCN, and Katie Feley, DNP, RN, NE-BC
Welcome to a special series on Gratitude brought to you by the American Nurses Foundation through the generous support of the Center for Disaster Philanthropy’s Disaster Recovery Fund.
In this special series we will explore how developing gratitude practices can significantly improve your health and well-being, while also improving your work, safety, relationships, self-care, growth, and joy.

In this episode, Amy Graber, Magnet Program Coordinator, Nursing Administration, CHI Health Mercy, Katie Feley, Chief Executive Officer, Indiana State Nurses Association, Executive Director, Indiana Nurses Foundation, and I go on a journey to discover how to share gratitude practices with teams, colleagues, coworkers. Highway to Well: "Party at Ground Zero," with Chuck Gillespie
In this episode of "Highway to Well," Chuck Gillespie, Executive Director of the National Wellness Institute (NWI), and I dive into the need for collaboration in our field and NWI's place in this movement. We also speak about the fingerprint of COVID on wellness and the opportunity we have to address social and emotional wellbeing in greater capacity, skill-building and self-efficacy, and how to make work more meaningful. Most importantly, we speak about what Chuck's walk-up song would be, as I strongly suggest he incorporates this at his introduction to the National Wellness Conference participants later this summer.
NWI is the leader in providing professional development and engagement opportunities that support individuals from a variety of disciplines in promoting whole–person wellness.
The National Wellness Conference, hosted annually by NWI, is where wellness and health professionals from a myriad of professional backgrounds (worksites, communities, public health organizations, healthcare, colleges/universities, faith communities) come together as the voice of the wellness community to identify and represent the professional standards and competencies for the industry. This year's theme for the 46th edition is, "Be Curious, Be Intentional, Be Well."

Highway to Well, Episode 31: "Golden Days," with Maggie Gough
"Am I in tune? Yeah, I can't hear much. But the melody coming from you." - the Damnwells
We're all on a search for meaning, purpose and belonging. We can find that in presence. Maybe the great lesson of 2020 is that we needed it restored. Our rhythm of life needed to be reset, allowing us to be still, to look into this window of wonder of the moment.
We learned how fragile these days are, how our best plans are laid to waste and our security disarmed. In our rush, we've been failing to recognize our greatest gift - to be where we are today.
In this special episode of "Highway to Well," Maggie Gough, President, Founder and CEO Realize Wellbeing, and I close out 2020 and usher in 2021 by discussing the adventures she captures on her Instagram story, how we can evolve wellness to encompass the whole person, and the majesty of restoration.
As we embark on a new year, we have the opportunity to breathe, recover and celebrate each day as a gift of wonder as we transform cultures of connection into cultures of belonging.

Highway to Well, Episode 29: "When I Look at the World," with Marc Young
"When you look at the world, what is it that you see.? People find all kinds of things that bring them to their knees." - Bono
Our current body politic is seeking its soul. In the midst of a pandemic, the momentum of social justice efforts, and a fight for truth, these times require us to be steadfast in our commitment to making the world a better and safer place. This means, we must "do the work." It also demands that we educate young men, teach them to avoid the pitfalls of emotional negligence, and help them to become empathetic citizens.
In this special episode of "Highway to Well," Marc Young and I dive into the ripples and currents of meaning, context, and experience. Marc is the Director of Admissions and Recruitment at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, but he's also an important voice on race, justice, and community - and in raising young men.

Highway to Well, Episode 28: "This Must Be the Place," with Derek Marie
"Home, is where I want to be. But I guess I'm already there.." - Talking Heads
While I've been a wellness professional for over 20 years, I have been a soccer coach longer. It is something that is woven into my DNA and has a home in my heart and soul.
In this very special episode of "Highway to Well," I invited Derek Marie, Head Men's Soccer Coach at Carroll University (WI), to talk about our lives as coaches. We begin this journey with discussing the impact COVID has had on our coaching and planning, but we quickly pivot to what it means to build a culture and how to raise quality young men. We also discuss the role coaches play in knocking down the stigma surrounding mental health and well-being and how important it is we allow our players to be vulnerable so we can open them up to discover their greatness.
This discussion is what matters most to me in coaching today. We need to treat mental health as a "moonshot" initiative so we can crush the stigma, overcome barriers, and create safe environments for all kids to have a special experience with sports. The opportunity is staring at us. It's coaches like Derek who will help us land this mission.

Highway to Well, Episode 27: "Fall on Me," with Craig Becker
"There's the progress. We have found a way to talk around the problem. Building towered. Foresight isn't anything at all." - "Fall on Me," by REM
What if we could re-capture what wellness is really about? What if we could strive to add more good, rather than focus on less bad? What if we moved away from a zero-sum prevention model to one that is expressive? Collaborative? Creative? Innovative? Isn’t that what wellness was, and always has been about?
In this episode of "Highway to Well," Craig Becker and I traverse these questions as we discuss his work in, and the value of salutogenesis. Salutogenesis is the study of the origins of health and how it can be generated. Salutogenesis can cause chronic wellness, which is persistent positive conditions enabled through engagement in health causing actions, by helping us know what environments, behaviors and thoughts improve health and well-being.
Craig is a professor of Health Education & Promotion at East Carolina University. He has written for over100 national and international publications and provided presentations about how to create or cause health and generate positive outcomes, not just avoiding bad results. Craig has also developed a vast amount of tools and resources, including a wide collection of videos and blogposts.
